These Days
Do things have spirits? Giving new meaning to existing subjects is one of the most challenging and interesting area in art making. What are the “possibilities” in photography when it is being used as a mean to depict the idea of a thing and it’s symbolic meaning in various layers? As an analogy to readymade, using found photographs and re-photographing of analog photos is worth trying as an intimate form of language. When I find my family photos taken when I was a kid, I decide to photograph them as a way to reminisce my childhood, with the technique to signify a change of state. The background images are taken recently at the estate where I lived when I was small. I hope this art making process can become a therapy for my fear and anxiety of growing old.
